PETER AND THE BIKE,

Oh, mamma who is that bicycle rider,
That looks like neither a woman or man,
I am so very afraid, he is a beginner.
For he is going as bad as he can.

The people turned and looked the way
The child's index finger surely pointed.
And should they live till judgment day,
They will never forget how Peter started.

Around the track he surely meant to go,
Nor cared he how they laughed and shouted:
The truth to tell, he enjoyed it so,
He did not know he and his bike had parted
Till on his back he found himself.
And of his senses almost bereft.
What to do with that which now was left.
St. Peter was heard to whisper, "I'll be blest."

In the future, Pete, be careful what you do
As the people have an anxious eye on you.
The next fall may prove a Waterloo,
And we will have to make you spanking new
