North Carolina:—In the Senate of N. Carolina, a bill to appropriate $30,000 for rebuilding the State house was postponed, after a debate in which the relative claims of Fayetteville and Raleigh for the seat of government were discussed by a vote of 32 to 31. It was proposed to bring forward a bill for the same object in the House of Commons. A committee of the legislature has reported in favor of employing Mr. Hughes of New York, to restore the statue of Washington, which was injured in the fire which destroyed the Capitol, to its original beauty.
