NEW-YORK. Nov. 15.
The Steam Boat has just arrived; and what was published yesterday afternoon in the Columbian, on the authority of Capt. Green, respecting the capture of Queenstown, Fort Erie & Fort George by the American troops under General Smyth, turns out to be a sheer fabrication.
By the passengers in the Steam-Boat we learn that an Express did arrive at Albany on Friday morning last, from the northern army; but instead of its bringing the news reported by capt. Green, of the capture of the British forts, it came with the mortifying information to the governor, that the army was—in want of ammunition!
Commodore Chauncey sailed from Sacket's harbor, last Sunday, with his squadron, well armed and manned, determined to scour the Lakes before he returned.
