"Golden Hope" Delights Audience at Sterry Hall.
The Y.W.C.A. of the College of Idaho gave the two-act play entitled "Golden Hope," by Gladys R. Bridgman, to a large audience at Sterry Hall Friday evening, Nov. 14. The presentation of the play was under the direction of Mrs. Anna Eick, director of the Department of Expression.
The plot centers around the blind author and playwright, Everil Sanderson and a servant girl, Becky, who had been wrongfully accused of theft and was desirous of living an honest life. A woman detective played an important part in the story, and the excitement caused by the attempt to arrest the innocent Becky caused the restoration of the sight of Miss Anderson. The different parts were well portrayed by the actors. The cast follows: Mrs. Gwendolyn Sanderson Washburn, a society woman, Lucile Jenkins; Averil Sanderson, a playwright, her sister, Persis Dee; Mrs. Estle Sanderson, their aunt, Doris Taylor; Miriam Huntley, secretary to Mrs. Washburn, Cora Tolles; Alice Beckwith, M.D., Lulu Keizur; Mary Blake, a detective, Margaret Mott; Becky, Mrs. Washburn's maid, Pauline Brown; Annie, Mrs. Washburn's maid, Katharine Campbell; Miss Leroy, hotel clerk, Louise Steele; Sadie Billings, hotel maid, Helen McLain.
