Ann Arbor, Mich. July 26—Friday, Lt. Barbara Bethell, former officer in charge of the WAC recruiting office here, left for Fort Des Moines, Ia., where she will receive a new assignment to duty. Arriving here last week to take over the office, Lt. Joan King announced that with the limit for the WAC quota extended to a ceiling of half a million, there is a great additional need for officer candidates as well as enlisted members. It has been announced by Maj. Gen. H. S. Aurand, commanding the Sixth Service Command, of which Ann Arbor is a part, that to meet this demand, a WAC officer training program has been established in which applications will be received for direct entry from civilian life.
