Col. Humphreys left us yesterday, having had the honor of being entrusted with renewal of the American Treaty with Morocco. I trust I shall soon have the happiness of advising you of its being done; as I must find it incumbent on me to transact the business in the speediest and most efficacious manner possible.
In addition to the above, Capt. Cook was informed by Mr. Buckley, two days previous to his leaving Lisbon, that he had received a letter from Cadiz, informing him that the Emperor had ordered the cruising off port. It was not known that any Moorish cruisers were out. Heard of no late engagement between the French and Spaniards.
