A Laughable Trick.

One of those perambulatory commerce gentleman, yclept a drummer, played a neat and laughable trick upon the boarders, and hotel people generally, at Sicher's yesterday. In addition to numerous accomplishments of the "Eli Perkins" brand, he is an expert ventriloquist and after registering yesterday he proceeded to have a little sport.

Passing through one of the halls he saw some of the lady boarders and he at once began whimpering cry, such as a child might give if suffering from a good sized pain beneath its apron. The ladies didn't see the child, but its cries stirred their warm hearts and they began a vigorous search for it, in which the wicked drummer joined, that they might endeavor to alleviate its pain. Mrs. Sicher was called and rooms were opened and searched, but all in vain, and it was not until he had grown tired of the fun that the real source of the mysterious and ailing child was discovered. That drummer is under suspicion.
