FEW
NEW YEAR'S
RESOLUTIONS
NEW YORK... Dear Reader:
Won't you join in with me on a few New Year's resolutions?
Okay, let's go...
1. I resolve to work a great deal harder to achieve beautiful, clear skin. To do this, I will watch ever so carefully my diet, stuffing myself with vegetables—even the ones I don't like—and refraining from SWEETS. Cutting down to a minimum on candy and cake will be hard but I will sacrifice them for clear, unblemished skin.
2. I resolve to pay more attention to my posture... no matter how busy I am. Good posture comes from being conscious about it and working at it. I will practice, every day if possible, walking with a book on my head. This will remind me to always pull my shoulders back and walk gracefully.
3. I resolve not to ever leave my hair to take care of itself. Every night I will give it no less than 25 strokes and over the weekends 50 strokes. I want my hair to always look alive and well cared for.
4. I resolve to watch my figure like a hawk. When the weight goes up, the calories will go down. I will get down on the floor and go after those special exercises for slimming the hips. A good figure belies a woman's age. I want to stay young looking. So I had better watch unmercifully my figure.
5. I resolve never to be too timid or too bold about color. I will always practice moderation. But color adds zest to living and certain colors as purple, pink, aqua yellow, blue-gray, go well with my shade of brown. Always I will experiment with new colors, keeping in mind that fashion even in colors may or may not become me.
And finally I resolve to read, read, and read my morning newspaper and my race weekly newspaper. I must keep as much as possible with all that is happening around me. I want to know the FACTS in Florida, in Korea, in India. Then I can be a more responsible citizen... a credit to my country and to my race.
