Full Text

From the Norfolk Repository.

Mr. Hann,

For near fifty years I have been persuaded that some means might be discovered to assist the Navigator, in time of long cloudy weather; but could not satisfy myself in an effectual plan, till Monday, the 13th of this month. I found, by observation, that attraction does not animate the needle or compass; that it is a principle in nature; as fixed as the earth itself. I can shew to the eye of any that will look, that the loadstone or magnet is not attracted, but acts from natural principles. I can show and instruct an artist to make an instrument, that at the same time it shows the course, will also show the latitude in all weather, and in all places.

JOHN FRIZELL.

Walpole, Norfolk County, August 12.
