The Last Whig Recruit—While the Georgia Whigs "stand from under," and the southern Whig groan and growl over the nomination, we are happy to find that the Whig party of the North is not entirely without its consolations.—
Their course appears to have recruited the famous Fred Douglass to their ranks. We copy the following from that leading Whig journal, the Boston Courier:
"Frederick Douglass, in his last paper, says he looks upon the nomination of General Scott as an 'encouraging sign of the times.' He rejoices over the defeat of Webster and Fillmore, but denounces the nomination of Vice President."
We give the Whigs joy of this their last endorser and ally!—Union.
