The famous Brooklyn Royals Giants of New York, Eastern Independent Colored Baseball Champions, will use Charlotte, North Carolina as their spring training base for the 1941 season.
The Royal Giants are the oldest organized colored baseball team in the business and have played through the entire country at one time or another.
FLORIDA SITE IN '40
Last year, the Brooklyn Royal Giants did their training in Florida but this season decided to use Charlotte, North Carolina as their headquarters.
Last season the Brooklyn Royal Giants made a successful barn-storming trip through the south playing The Ethiopian Clowns, Satchel Paige's All Stars, Jesse Owens' Toledo Crawfords.
The Royal Giants gave a good account of themselves when they played these clubs in North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, and some of the other states.
IN DEMAND
A great many requests have been received from independent club owners requesting exhibition games with the Brooklyn Royal Giants.
Quite a few dates have already been closed with a few still remaining open between April 15 and April 30. Any teams interested in any dates are requested to communicate immediately with Nat C. Strong Inc., World Building, New York, who handles the bookings exclusively for this club.
The Brooklyn Royal Giants of New York expect to start their spring exhibition games Sunday, April 13.
Tentative arrangements have been made to play in Raleigh, North Carolina, Sunday, Apr. 13, where they will meet the Raleigh Greys.
Easter Monday, April 14 they will move over to Durham, North Carolina where they will meet the home club in a double-header.
Charlotte North Carolina will be the home base of Brooklyn Royal Giants while they are training this season.
