Easter much earlier than in 1947 is one of the features of the Leap Year calendar, being set for March 28 in contrast with April 16 this year. The old year had one unlucky day, June 13; the new one will have two, one in February and the other in August.
Groundhog day, February 2, is on Monday; Lincoln's birthday, February 12, on Thursday and Valentine's day, Saturday, February 14. Washington's birthday is on Sunday, February 22, thus disposing of a possible holiday.
St. Patrick's day, March 17, is on Wednesday and spring arrives at 11:57 a.m., or three minutes before noon, on March 20. Easter is March 28. April Fool Day is on Thursday, April 1, and a partial eclipse of the moon, not visible in the U.S., is announced for April 23. May 4 is Ohio primary day and May 8 will see an annular eclipse of the sun, it, too, being invisible in this country.
Mother's day is May 9 and Memorial day is on Sunday, May 30. Flag day is Monday, June 14; Father's day, June 20, and summer arrives at 7:11 a.m., the very next day. Fourth of July, like Memorial day, falls on Sunday.
Labor day is September 6. Constitution day is Friday, September 17, and autumn begins at 10:22 p.m. September 22. Columbus day is Tuesday, October 12, and the moon stages an invisible eclipse, October 27 with Halloween on Sunday, October 31.
November starts with a total eclipse of the sun November 1 and next day will see numerous candidates eclipsed at a national election. Armistice day is Thursday, November 11, and Thanksgiving is November 25. Winter arrives at 5:34 p.m. December 21 and Christmas comes on Saturday, December 25, with New Year's of 1949 arriving on the same day of the following week, of course.
