Full Text

Communicated for the Federal Gazette

Extract from a letter dated "Liverpool April 26."

"No communication has been made by the government of this country on the subject of American affairs, since the account of the passing of the Non-Importation Act was received, nor has any retaliating measure been adopted, unless, however, some accommodation between the countries takes place in the course of the present summer, we do not expect the ports of this country will long remain open to American ships and the general produce of the United States. There is at present no hope of the orders in council being repealed, and in anticipation of their being, ere long, some impediment to the direct importation of American produce, it is in general in good demand at rather improving prices. The vessels to carry out Mr. Foster and Mr. Pinkney are still waiting for them; but an account of their embarkation is daily expected. The American 6 per cent. stock sells in London at 105 1-2; the 3 per cent. at 68; and Louisiana 6 per cents. at 106. The premium of Insurance from the United States to this country is 1 guineas per cent Dollars 5s. 11d. per ounce."
