RAILROAD GETS TERMINAL EXPERT

Perkins of St. Louis Now With Brownsville Road.

Officials are Holding Important Meeting in Houston Today-Preparing to Build Stations and Sheds in That City.

Albert T. Perkins of St. Louis, expert of the Municipal Terminal commission of St. Louis, recognized as one of the leading authorities in the United States on terminal matters, has been engaged by the interests owning the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico railway to give them the benefit of his knowledge in the building of the terminals of the Houston Belt and Terminal Railway company, said the Houston Post yesterday. Mr. Perkins arrived yesterday morning and will attend the annual meeting of stockholders and directors of the terminal company tomorrow.

E. C. Eliot of St. Louis, general counsel for the St. Louis Union Trust company, which owns the Brownsville line, is with Mr. Perkins. Jeff N. Miller, vice president and general manager, also arrived here yesterday, and was in conference with the two St. Louisans.

At tomorrow's session it is expected that the four lines--Brownsville, Trinity and Brazos Valley, Beaumont, Sour Lake and Western and Santa Fe--will be well represented, because of the importance of the meeting.

Bids for the erection of the freight sheds, the first work in the terminals, probably will be opened and the contract awarded. The plans will be thoroughly discussed and arrangements made to finance the building operations. The desire of the lines is to begin work by March 1 and to rush the building to an early completion. The plans for the train sheds and the passenger terminals will also be gone over.

WANTS BEST RESULTS.

"The Brownsville line owns a one-fourth interest in the Houston Belt and Terminal company," said Mr. Miller yesterday, "holding an equal interest with the other companies, and we are anxious to obtain the very best results in the building and operation of the terminals here. With this end in view we have engaged the services of Mr. Perkins, who has a national reputation as a terminal expert."

Mr. Perkins declined to express an opinion regarding the terminal plans here. "I have not gone over these plans nor studied the situation here as thoroughly as I would like, but will give them close attention between now and the meeting Monday. I am here to represent the stockholders of the St. Louis, Brownsville and Mexico railway.

The question of how the Brownsville line will enter Houston will also be studied by Mr. Perkins during his visit to this city and section, for after the meeting here he will make a trip over the line with Mr. Miller.
