Full Text

Of the MURDER at CAPE COD.

We are credibly assured, that the late curious story from Cape Cod, is untrue in its most material parts. A report reached Provincetown, of much the same tenor with the one published here. A very suspicious person was lurking about the town—and, (crediting the report) the people thought best to secure him, which was accordingly done. His conduct after being arrested increased the belief of the story and of his guilt; and he was kept in durance several days. At length satisfactory intelligence being received, that no such frightful affair had happened, as was told, he was discharged.
