This, Mr. Editor, was the shameful denunciation of the democrats at that day against the father of his country, the best and greatest of men, Washington—they now have the effrontery to tell us that "his name is revered only by Democrats!"

Boston, July 6.

Commercial.—A letter from Liverpool, dated 27th May, says:—"This day's mail brings advice of the minister having consented in the House of Commons to abandon the contemplated additional duty of 1d. per lb. on cotton, and that doubts are entertained as to whether the new duty on ashes will be imposed. Sales have been made at the annexed quotations:— Cotton, Upland, 10¼ to 11½; New Orleans 1 to 1s 3½: Ashes, pot, 40 to 42 and 43s; pearl, 45 to 47s; timber, 8s to 3 3d."
