The drilling rig that is putting down the deep county well just west of town passed the obstruction that was placed in the well while the work was suspended last summer, and at 1,650 feet passed through the shale deposits and the sand rock on Monday. The string of casing was set on the rock and water rose in it for 500 feet. In all probability there will be something found under the rock that will prove of great value, possibly oil or gas. In any event the well will prove to be worth more than it cost by reason of the data obtained. Goodland Republic.
