NEW YORK FIGHT CLUBS PLAN FISTIC SEASON

NEW YORK, Oct. 23. (U.P.)- Cauliflower alley believed today that a truce had been declared between Madison Square Garden and the Twentieth Century club.

It interpreted the cessation of hostilities between these rival boxing organizations as the forerunner to a Joe Louis-James J. Braddock heavyweight title fight.

The garden, which has exclusive call on Champion Braddock's services, and the Twentieth Century promoter, who has Louis sewed up until 1940, will stage two fights in the house Tex Rickard built.

Louis-Uzcudun
The first bout will be a 15-rounder between Louis and Paulino Uzcudun of Spain on December 13.

The second will be staged sometime in March, with Louis meeting an opponent to be selected from a group including Tony Galento, Walter Neusel, Charley Retzlaff and Ford Smith.

Although the garden will profit considerably from both bouts, its willingness to become associated with Jacobs-who once was Tex Rickard's right hand man-- was interpreted as admission of the failure of its own boxing department.

First move toward ending the war between Jacobs, who has flashed to national supremacy as promoter within the last six months, and the garden, whose fistic stock has dropped alarmingly over the same period, was made by President John Reed Kilpatrick of the garden.

He recommended to the directors that the corporation would profit far more by showing Louis on a percentage basis under Jacobs than the bouts were held at the New York coliseum, which Mike Jacobs was preparing to alter for use during the indoor season.

Advanced Step
The deal is regarded as a step of paramount importance toward straightening out the muddled heavyweight situation.

Although the garden will act merely in the capacity of "landlord" during Jacobs' two ventures, it is believed Mike may get a strong enough foothold to take over control of boxing.

The situation boils down to Louis and Braddock. As long as there is animosity between the two organizations, these fighters could never be brought together.

If Jacobs takes over garden boxing, his proposed Louis - Max Schmeling bout may be staged in the huge outdoor bowl in Long Island.

Cleveland in June and a title bout with Braddock would be assured the winner.
