COMMUNICATION.

A correspondent is of opinion, that an immense addition might be made to the revenue, if the duty on swearing was properly collected. From the general tenor of conversation, some millions of oaths are sworn every day, which would produce a sum exceeding all comprehension. Perhaps as the excise laws are abolished—the ruling party may think it necessary to recommend it to the states to abolish this duty—as well as of other articles of great consumption. Swearing is a voluntary act, and may be reckoned an article of luxury, as it administers to no one useful purpose.
