MISS ECKERT'S LECTURE.
Miss Daisy Eckert, field secretary for the Philatheas, spoke most interestingly at the First Baptist church Thursday evening, on the purpose and work of the organization. Philathea, "lover of truth," surely no more inspiring and beautiful theme could be chosen for an address to young people. The life we live is the only life we know; to live it well, to develop character so that its unfolding will reveal truth, beauty, love, is to live on the plane of "the higher life." Such is the doctrine of the Philatheas, whose motto might be Keats beautiful lines inscribed on a Grecian urn:
"Truth is beauty; beauty is truth,
That is all we know on earth and all we
want to know."
