Editorial
While we are berating the farmer these days for the high cost of things we eat, let us pause to remember that
For one hog he can get a carpenter for two days.
For one fat lamb he can get a plasterer for 5 hours.
For the eggs from 720 hens in one day he can hire a painter for 8 hours.
For a one year old steer he can get long usable second grade 100 pieces of 1x12" lumber.
For three big turkeys he can get a half days work on his car not counting the extras.
For good cows any established doctor will be willing to deliver his wife's baby and pay for the hospital bill for a few days.
For 12 fat hens he can get a tooth filled although he might spend another hundred dollars going and coming.
For one acre of wheat he can get a pair of ordinary eye glasses
and so we might go on ad infinitum,
but it all adds up to inflation.
