Garlock Union To Join IAM

More than 1,300 employees of the Garlock Packing Co. of Palmyra, N. Y., have voted to join the Machinists after 14 years of representation by an independent union.

Charles M. Price, business representative for IAM Dist. 6, Rochester, N. Y., reports

The decision of the members of the Palmyra Independent Workers Union to come into the IAM grew out of their recognition of the need for the type of assistance, servicing and strength that can only be produced by a strong international union."

Garlock manufactures packing seals for industry. The election was conducted in the Palmyra village hall.
