BUILDING—EPIDEMIC
Wide-Awake Citizens Falling In Line With Clean-Up Procession
For the past three months there has been an epidemic of cleaning up, painting, building and remodeling in the atmosphere around Dresden and vicinity. Among the victims affected are Messrs. Tom Moore, Walter McClain, B. C. Waterfield, Dick Maiden, J. A. Irvine all of whom are building new dwellings and Mrs. H. B. Jones, Messrs. Bernice Terrell, Keith Killebrew and R. E. Maiden also Mrs. J. A. Paschall who are remodeling homes and places of business. Evidently people are observing the old rule to clean up, paint up and make the home as comfortable as possible to while away the long cold evenings of the winter months.
When autumn overtakes trees and vegetation they lose all their beauty and the cold weather begins to prevail, people begin to look to their homes as a place to spend the time after being out of doors all summer and haven't thought about where they were going to stay when winter months overtake them, they naturally in the fall when cool days and nights are upon them, begin to get ready for winter, and therefore make it a custom to clean up, renovate and make home as comfortable as possible.
Among the business houses falling in line are Mr. Bernice F. Terrell, recently purchasing the drug store owned and operated here for many years by Dr. Walter Bobbitt, deceased, has added to the store two large show windows, also painting and remodeling the interior of the store. Judge R. E. Maiden has painted and papered his law office both interior and exterior. Mrs. H. B. Jones remodeling her home, building some rooms and sun parlor, also new front porch. This has seemed to be a year of reconstruction with people of this vicinity and has been an epidemic, as numbers have taken their places in the ranks of clean-up and paint-up this year.
