Washington, Jan. 25. - Interior Secretary Ickes announced today that President Roosevelt had declined to accept his offered resignation, asking him to remain in the cabinet.
Ickes is one of the two original members of the President's cabinet. The other is Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins, whose resignation the President also has rejected.
Ickes told a news conference he had received a letter from the White House in which the President said he hoped I would stay on.
Ickes described Henry Wallace's nomination as Secretary of Commerce to succeed Jesse Jones as "a good appointment."
