MINERS INTEND TO FIGHT

Will Resist Proposed Reduction of Wages in Pennsylvania.

Pittsburg, Kan., July 17.-Thomas L. Lewis, national president of the United Mine Workers of America, has left here for the Central Pennsylvania coal mining district.

"The operators there have given notice of a reduction of 11 cents a ton in the mining rate," said Mr. Lewis. "We will resist it to the bitter end. Before they can establish such a reduction they must wipe out of existence every local miners' union in Central Pennsylvania."
