THREE KILLED WHEN FIVE BOILERS EXPLODE.

Plant of Pennsylvania Coal Mine Wrecked and Several Men Hurt.

PITTSBURG, May 16.—A battery of five boilers exploded at the plant of the Diamond Coal and Coke Company yesterday in Chewtown, Washington county, killing three men, who were in the boiler-house. Six others, including employees and residents in the dozen or more houses nearby, were injured, but none will die.

The dead are:

William Adamson, electrical engineer, aged 29.

Peter Walsh, aged 45, and Earl Bovard, aged 34.

All leave widows and one or more children.

The cause of the explosion is unknown. Since Bovard, the fireman who was in charge, and the only other two occupants of the boiler-house, are the victims, it is doubtful if responsibility is placed.
