We learn from Newport, that on Saturday last there arrived at that place, a French privateer schooner. Soon after her arrival, she was boarded by a Custom-house officer. The answers given to the interrogatories of the officer being unsatisfactory, her papers were demanded. From which it appeared she had no regular commission, but only authority for cruising, from the French Consul at New-York. She was immediately ordered to sea, and soon afterwards sailed. Many persons were of opinion that she ought to have been detained.
