Our readers will, notice the formal announcement in this issue of R. N. Carper for the nomination of Sheriff of the county, subject to the decision of the republican county convention. Col. Carper, as he is called, is the well known and successful auctioneer. He is noted in that profession, last year being vice-president of the state association of auctioneers. He is an old resident of Audubon county, having lived here twenty-seven years. He has lots of friends over the country and he desires that his thanks be expressed to the public for the generous way they have assisted him. For several years Mr. Carper was the efficient town marshall of Audubon. Now he is steward of the poor farm and has been successful in his management of it. He would no doubt make a good sheriff.
