Last Wednesday evening winter got down to business and appeared to say: "Just look at the way I'm going to send the snow down. Oh, but you had better believe that I am going to do business in first class style, and don't you forget it."
And every one who looked at the weather thought that winter was going to fulfill his contract. Snow came down thick and fast, and almost any man was ready to bet his bottom dollar that considerable snow would fall.
Winter fizzled that night; he had the snow machinery all set in proper snowing order, but when hopes had blossomed into joy, and he had got the citizens to make their favorable snow prophecies, he shut down on the snow factory and lit out for parts unknown.
