Former Tennis Star Added To VA Staff
By NATHANIEL P. TILLMAN, Jr.
Harold Nathaniel Arnold, former Atlantan and a veteran of twenty-two months Army service overseas in the ETO, recently returned home and received an appointment as Training Officer, Vocational Rehabilitation and Education Division of the Baltimore Regional Office of the Veterans' Administration.
The son of Jackson Arnold of 46 Ashby St., N. W., in Atlanta, and the brother of Marshall, Peggie, Edith and Willie Arnold. Harold is a 1937 graduate of Morehouse College, and until his induction into the Army in September, 1942, was an Educational Advisor.
Harold (Nat) Arnold is well known in tennis circles in this section having played well in the junior division in this city. He is a former Men's Doubles Champion along with Ralph Long and in 1937 was runner-up to Edmund Allen in Men's Singles. "Nat" was also a varsity tennis player at Morehouse College in 1937.
This appointment as Training Officer with the Baltimore Veterans Administration is significant in that it makes possible the efficient guidance of Negro vets in "on-the-job-training" courses and vocational education under the GI Bill of Rights.
