It is a fact that the New York Financial News, the greatest financial authority in the United States, is a free coinage paper, and is getting in some powerful strokes for it. The London Financial News says Americans are fools for adopting the gold standard when by restoring silver they can wrench the trade of all Asia from England. Yet we have plenty of gold standard fools left, and we are helpless. But you can't fool the people much longer.

The Charlotte Observer says it would a little rather believe Rev. H. R. Moseley who recently lectured at Monroe on "the Social and Religious Life in Mexico," than to believe what Judge Clark has written about Mexico. We don't know Bro. Moseley and know nothing of what he said in his lecture, but if it pleased the Observer it must be a gold standard decoction, and we want to say right here that the preacher who takes that side of the question, which is against every word of biblical teaching, is liable at any time to get up a new lecture and go around telling the folks that hades is simply a summer resort abounding in shady nooks, exquisite sunsets and ice cream parlors.
