IMPORTANT FROM FLORIDA.

BILLY BOWLEGS FOR PEACE.

The following despatch received at this Office, last night, from Savannah, gives the gratifying intelligence of the speedy settlement of the Indian difficulties in Florida:

[From the Office of the Savannah Georgian.]

SAVANNAH, Sept. 19.

By a private letter just received, we learn that Billy Bowlegs has sent three runners to Capt. Casey, assuring him of the determination of the Indians to preserve peace with the Whites; disavowing all participation in the late murders, and asserting their indignation at the conduct of Five Young Indians who committed the outrages at Indian River and Pea River, one of whom had been for some time an outlaw from Indian justice.

He further states that he only recently heard of the outrage from San Jose's, and asks for an interview with one of our officers in command.

As the five murderers are under arrest and will be given up, preliminaries have been arranged for a council to be held this day at Charlotte Harbor.—Col. Tel.
