HOME AND LOVED ONES
By James Monroe Downum

Days and years will come to you,
As you pass the old world through.
When you'll yearn for time to come
That again you'll wander home,
Where the dear ones wait in love
All their worth to you to prove,
Though long years may pass away
Ere may come that vital day.
So it's well in passing days
To think well of living ways
In the home with loved ones dear,
Mother anxious for your cheer,
Father shielding you from wrong,
Sister with a happy song,
Brother with a ready hand.
Ever for you faithful stand.
Mother's Day is now with you,
Father's Day will soon be due,
Days for brother, sister dear,
Make these days the best of year;
For some hours will come along
When you'll crave a cheerful song
Bring each heart some sacred bliss,
By kind deed and sincere kiss.
