WEEKLY POEM
REV. JOHN R. PERKINS
FOLLOW THE NARROW PATH
ITS RIGHT
I
There are many cloudy days in life
Yet Sunshine comes in time
Jesus healed the sick and raised the dead
Gave sight to those who were blind.
II
Jesus said I'll go away you see
To prepare a place for you
All who will believe on him
Their hearts shall be made new.
III
Why believe a road is a good road
And travel on the bad end
It is just because you won't obey
God's word
And your hearts are filled with sin.
IV
Some day you will need the love of God
But I'm afraid it will be too late
You love to travel that broad road
And it will be your fate.
V
That narrow path will lead you right
Yet the broad roads not so well
That broad road has an end to it
And they say that it is hell.
VI
A Christian travels that narrow path
While the world is on the broad road
Trying to pick up everything they see
To take to Hell a great load.
VII
When you fail to train a child
An old man is hard to rule
When they never had any training
They are just a dangerous fool.
VIII
Some fools will say when educated
You cannot be a fool
But the biggest fool I ever saw
Was a graduated fool from school.
IX
Train the child the way it should go
And educate the child the same
When you have raised him up right
And some day he'll bring home fame.
X
Don't spare the rod and spoil the child
Then put him in high school
When he comes out to face the world
He's just an educated fool.
