Messrs. Cadet, Devaux, and la Beaume, eminent apothecaries of Paris, were accordingly named commissioners, and sent into Brittany, to view the tobacco, see if there were just grounds for the complaints, and report their opinions to the court.--They have actually made their report, which is highly unfavourable to the Farmers-General, who have an exclusive patent for supplying all France with tobacco; and proves that the complaints were well founded. In consequence of this the parliament of Rennes has given a judgment or decree, that all the tobacco stored in that province be publicly burnt; and that this judgment be executed according to the full force of both the letter and spirit of the sentence.
