Full Text

Pioneer Press: Nehemiah G. Ordway is certainly learning that the way of the transgressor, who has outlived his usefulness, is hard. There were times when Ordway had a chance to be useful during his twelve years as sergeant at arms of the house, and he owes all he has been since to that experience. Dakota is unnecessarily anxious to show her weariness of the governor, considering the probabilities. The only backing Ordway has at Washington is Chandler, and Dakota is not in the navy department, by a good deal. Secretary Teller will be only too glad of a chance to execute poetic justice and give Dakota a chief magistrate to her choice when time and the man shall appear. It is by Teller's positive instructions that his kinsman, the secretary of the territory, stays at Yankton and keeps the seal of the territory there under lock and revolver. There all papers requiring the imprint of that seal have to be sent, and Yankton is still the capital of Dakota by virtue of Secretary Teller's orders. There are others beside Teller who only await a decent excuse to let slip the dogs of vengeance.
