GIVEN FIFTY LASHES.

McAlester, Ind. Ter., Oct. 11.—At Fort Gibson yesterday, some bridge men were side tracked in a bridge car. After their day's work was over they locked up their car and went up town. On their return they found the car door broken open and several watches and other property missing. Supposing the thieves to be tramps, the boys started in pursuit on a hand-car, overtaking two tramps a few miles from town. The missing articles were all recovered and a novel punishment was inflicted. The boys cut a lot of hickory switches and the stalwart foreman administered to each culprit fifty lashes on the bare back and then gave them an opportunity to get away. They made railroad time getting out of sight.
