Ray Charles Tops
Magnolia Concerts
Today 6 & 10 P.M.

Ray Charles and his famous orchestra will play two concerts, this evening at 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. at the Magnolia Ballroom. The dynamic vocalist-instrumentalist is returning here by popular demand after appearing a week ago before an SRO crowd at an Auburn Avenue nightclub.

Charles has won acclaim in almost three categories of popular music. He was acclaimed during appearances last summer at various jazz festivals, and was later lauded for his rock'n' roll rhythms. He has since been lauded for the mastery of his almost hymn-like vocal interpretation and has won commendation for his excursions into the pop field.

There is almost a revival intonation of Charles' songs and this almost spiritual quality has captivated fans coast-to-coast.

Charles will be top-featured on a show bill that includes Little Willie John, Mary Johnson and Alfred Jackson and the Up-setters.
