Its Old Timers
INDIANAPOLIS – Retired members honored at the recent Oldtimers Night held by Lodge 699 were J. L. Patterson, C. E. Dyer, H. R. Stone, Jack Frost, H. H. Hadley, J. W. Alexander, L. W. Carpenter, Elmer Clark, and J. F. McCormick.
President C. E. Umbanhowar was toastmaster at the dinner which was attended by over 100 members and their families.
Each of the oldsters spoke a few words and J. L. Patterson, oldest of the veterans, gave a graphic description of working on the rails in the "good old days" of the link and pin and hand brakes.
S. C. Levi, vice-president of Lodge 374, and P. C. Williams, legislative representative of Lodge 699, spoke briefly of the recent fight to retain the Minimum Crew Law in Indiana.
H. H. Stough, general chairman on the Big Four, and F. M. Hardesty, field supervisor, gave interesting talks on BRT activities.
LA Lodge 864 was responsible for the excellent dinner served.
