NEW YORK - (NNPA) - Opposition to regional medical schools, support for President Truman's Civil Rights program, and a re-affirmation of its stand against segregation in Veterans Administration hospitals was expressed here last Monday by the board of directors of the National Medical Association.
The organization also went on record as supporting Oscar R. Ewing, Federal Security Administrator, in his efforts to have colored internes and doctors of Howard University make use of facilities at Gallinger Hospital in Washington, D.C.
Other resolutions passed by the directors urged admission for colored people to all tax-supported hospitals.
The association directors selected New York City as the site of their annual convention to be held August 16-20. The organization is a sustaining member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
