Improvements. - After an absence of less than two months from Walla Walla, we are astonished to notice the number of improvements that have been made in that brief space of time.

At the upper end of town we notice the building of Dr. L. Goodwin, at the corner of Main and First streets, designed to be used as a drug store.

Coming down Main street, we notice a number of new firms, among whom we notice our old friends, the Jacobson Brothers, who have cast in their lot with us, and now occupy the old stand of N. & E. Brown, where they have a fine stock of goods.

Crossing the street, we have the new firm of Kimball & Day, who are largely engaged in the dry goods and general merchandising business. Mr. Day is an old acquaintance, and we gladly welcome him and his partner to a share in the general prosperity.

In the same block the two-story fire-proof brick building is of Mr. O. Brechtel, the finest structure east of the mountains, and a building that would show well by comparison anywhere. We are glad to see Mr. B. in his new and magnificent quarters, and trust that he may live long to enjoy the fruits of his industry.

Passing on down Main street, we have the new building, put up by Mr. Scholl, the butcher, and occupied by Denaby & Co., as a first-class restaurant.

Still further down Main street, and next door below Jordan & Co., J. M. Garden has just put up a handsome frame building which he designs to occupy as a saloon.

Crossing Main street, and in the next block below, we have Joseph's new Brewery, which is just completed and will be turning out beer between this and Christmas.

On the line of Alder street, and fronting the Catholic Church, Mr. M. Cosgrove, has erected a handsome dwelling, which is completed with all the latest conveniences, and wears the aspect of a cozy home.

On the same street, a square below, Mr. Theodore Tatro, has just finished a neat and comfortable dwelling, which he is having finished in handsome style.

These are the improvements that have attracted our attention in the course of a stroll round town. There are doubtless many others which escaped our notice, but will be attended to in due time.
