CAN SWEEP THE SEA:

Launching of the United States Cruiser Columbia.

PHILADELPHIA, July 26.-The new United States cruiser, No. 12, was launched at Cramps' ship yard this afternoon in the presence of a large crowd of spectators. Among those present, besides a number of naval experts, Senators and Representatives and agents of foreign governments, were Vice-President Morton, Secretary Tracy, Assistant Secretary of State Grinnell, Senator Hickock, Commodore Wilson and Naval Constructors Bowles and Woodward. Mrs. Morton and Miss Edith Morton. The last named young lady performed in a graceful manner the act of christening the new vessel Columbia.
