They Let it Die.
[Grayson Gazette.]

The suspension of the Republican does not speak well for the intelligence, patriotism and honesty of the Republicans in this county. If we understand the case clearly, only about one out of every five of its subscribers paid for his paper—the balance taking it with the understanding that they would pay up in a week or two. Several months have passed by since the first issue was thrown from the press, but neither of them happened to contain that promise-pay-week. The result is just what might have been expected, Mr. MeClure, one of the hardest working and most deserving men in the State, managed to squeeze along until the last issue, and then, having come to the end of his rope, had to let go. The other day a prominent Republican stated on the street that we had treated the Republican party with more disrespect during the time we have been here than the Sunbeam had during its entire existence. Nothing that we have ever written has been half as savage a blow at Grayson county Republicanism as this act of permitting its party paper to perish when it was honestly owing it enough to keep it alive and healthy.
