Shooting with intent charges have been filed against a Kreole tavern operator after a brawl Saturday night.
Sheriff James Ira Grimsley said Travis Cain, operator of Eunice and Travis' Place, was released on $2000 bond Sunday.
William Rufus Osborn, 61, of Wilson Avenue, Kreole, was reported in good condition at noon Monday in Singing River Hospital.
Hospital authorities said Osborn was shot in the right arm and suffered lacerations of the face by a bullet which ricocheted. He was taken to the hospital by a Jackson County Mortuary ambulance.
Grimsley, who said the tavern has been closed, said Cain told him a fight started among a group of patrons. He quoted Cain as saying he got the gun to fire warning shots to break up the fight.
Grimsley said Cain fired three times. Cain suffered a minor laceration in the fracas but was not hospitalized.
A hearing is scheduled Wednesday.
