Full Text

The COQUETTE.

CONSTANT swains and lasses true,
Hear my song, I sing to you.
Every fond and faithful pair
Scorn alike the jilting fair;
Who with vain coquettish arts,
Makes a Trade of hunting hearts:
For every coxcomb sighs by turns,
And now for this, now that one burns;
And fickle as the vernal breeze,
Sighs for every fop she sees.
Curs'd with a form that might inspire
Enfeebled age with youthful fire;
Resolving on that single part,
With not one charm to please the heart,
In Folly's endless maze she flies,
Derided lives, neglected dies.
