On Tuesday last was held at the state house in this city, the election of members of the state legislature, and representatives in Congress.

The number of free citizens that attended on the occasion was very great, and notwithstanding the variety of tickets, and the difference of sentiment which appeared on this occasion, the election was closed in harmony and good understanding. The following is the return of the number of votes given in at the election, for the city and county of Philadelphia.
