From his son Tom, who is attending Amherst college, Judge E. M. Nourse of our city has received a clipping containing a reproduction of an old picture of the Amherst football team of 1892, the famous team that defeated Dartmouth, 24 to 12 and Williams 60 to 0.
The interesting part is that in the front appears Judge Wilbur F. Stone, new attorney general of the United States, who played right guard on the team and graduated in 1894. Immediately behind him appears an excellent likeness of our fellow townsman, Judge Nourse who played right tackle, and it is needless to say Mr. Nourse is highly pleased at the elevation of his old teammate to the present high position.
President Coolidge was a graduate of Amherst in 1895, and for a year ate at the same boarding house as Judge Nourse, who thus has two college friends in the administration at Washington.
