From the PUBLICK LEDGER.

To the PRINTER.

A Few days past I met an acquaintance of mine much afflicted with the dropsy, who had applied to several eminent Gentlemen of the Faculty, without success. Accidentally he dropt into a green stall in Old Gravel lane, where the woman knowing him, she said, Mr. -, you don't seem well; his reply was, I have got a dropsy. The house being full of customers, she desired him to stay; then advised him to take a leek, pound it in a mortar, extract the juice, and to take a table spoonful in half a pint of new milk. To avoid prolixity, he was desired to double, treble, &c. the quantity of the juice (but still in the half pint of milk) according as he found his constitution could bear it. He did so, and now is in a perfect state of health. This you may depend is a truth; for, if required, I can produce the parties.
