IMPUDENCE OF WHIGGERY.
How old Lucifer must kick up his heels and laugh at the hardy impudence of the Whig leaders. The U. S. Gazette, speaking of the passage of the Tariff bill, says: "There will now, we believe, be a new issue of Treasury notes, amounting to about six millions. And it is probable that before the fourth of March next, Government, notwithstanding the economy forced upon it by the Whigs of Congress, will be in want of further aid!" The economy forced upon it by the Whigs of Congress! Well, that is rich in impudence. The "old boy" himself couldn't beat it. Does not every body know that the late session of Congress, has been the most extravagant that was ever held - increasing the public debt some twenty millions - and absolutely beggaring the Government, and destroying its credit to such an extent, that no one can be found willing to lend it a single dollar. A condition of things like this, never before existed since the Declaration of Independence. The Whig tariff which has just been passed, as intimated by the above, will sink the country deeper in debt.
