Gen. John Mason, of Georgetown, we are informed by the Editor of the Spirit of Seventy-Six, "has resigned his commission of brigadier-general of the militia of the District of Columbia; an office which he has held for a number of years with high honor to himself and great satisfaction to the officers and soldiers under his command, and which it is understood he now relinquishes, only on account of the increase of duty and responsibility which has by a recent act of Congress been attached to his office of Superintendant of Indian trade."
